About URT
Urban Research Table (URT) is a research and design collective exploring emerging issues in architecture and urbanism. Founded as a research group in 2016 by post-graduate students from the University of Tokyo and Keio University, URT has grown into a platform for discussion and collaboration. We have been online since 2018.
URT aims to challenge assumptions about urbanism and city life by engaging with the constantly transforming reality of the urban realm. At the same time, we seek to provide a public platform to contribute to urban scholarship and investigate the future of cities in the midst of their rapid transformation.
On this website, you will find original essays, short commentaries, or news that correspond to our research agenda, especially on places, public life, streetscape, mobilities, public-private dynamics, and methods to analyze and visualize urban spaces.
